Five Suggestions to Help You Sell Your Vehicle

1. Summarize Your Vehicle Maintenance Record.

Used vehicle purchasers want to know that the vehicle that they are buying has been well maintained. If you have kept a maintenance record on your vehicle, great! Say this in your ad. If you have not, try to reconstruct it from your credit card receipts and/or vehicle work orders form your maintenance provider and the maintenance schedule in your owners manual.

2. Have Your Vehicle Professionally Cleaned and Waxed.

Everyone wants a vehicle that looks good! If it has minor dents and dings, get them repaired. The investment in a professional cleaning will return itself many times over.

3. Have a Great Photo of Your Vehicle in Your Ad.

Make sure you have your vehicle all spic and span and shiny when you take your photo. Also, make sure that you take the photo in a pleasant backdrop. Don’t photograph it in a cluttered area. If you don’t have a digital camera, you can take the photo with regular film and have your processor put the photos on a CD.

4. Vehicle Warranty.

A purchaser will be concerned about the mechanical condition of your vehicle. If your vehicle has existing factory warranty remaining, state this in the ad. If it does not, you may want to consider purchasing a 12 month power train warranty to go with the vehicle when it is purchased. This will give your purchaser a better peace of mind.

5. Be Realistic When Pricing Your Vehicle.

Expect potential purchasers to have a good idea of what your vehicle is worth. Don’t scare off potential buyers with an unrealistic price. If you’re not sure, check with a reliable publication like Kelley Blue Book to get suggestions on how to price your particular vehicle.
